How to Find Out if You Have Any Debts

Date: Oct 23, 2026
To find out if you have any debts, check your free credit reports and look through your records. A clean report suggests no reported credit debt, but not every obligation appears there.
Check Your Credit Reports
Free weekly reports from the three major bureaus are at Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. They list accounts, balances, and payment history.
Check Unreported Debts
Some debts do not appear unless they get sent to collections, including unpaid utility bills. Look for mailed noticed and statements, check student loan and tax accounts, and review bank statements for recurring payments.
If nothing shows up in reports or records, you probably do not have significant debt outstanding.
